I have always had a lot of weird medical issues and I seem to catch just about everything that comes along. One of the current issues that has been driving me nuts, has been my sense of taste. I understand it is associated with CKD, but it is just weird. I have found a lot of foods are just too spicy for me now. For instance, paprika burns my mouth terribly. Paprika does not burn your mouth as it is a very, very mild spice. Before CKD, I thought of paprika as a way to add color to foods to make them more appetitizing. Not anymore, I can't go near the stuff otherwise my mouth burns horribly. That is just one of many weird issues.

Can kidney failure cause blurry vision and dizziness?

Yes, kidney failure can cause blurry vision. When your kidneys aren't working properly, several eye problems can develop that lead to blurred vision.

Here's how kidney failure affects your vision:

* Retinopathy - Damage to the retina from blood vessel damage
* Macular degeneration - Damage to the central part of your retina
* Glaucoma - Increased pressure in your eyes
* Cataracts - Cloudiness in the eye
* Fluid buildup causing very high blood pressure, which can result in sudden blurry vision

These eye problems happen because kidney disease damages small blood vessels in your eyes, causes fluid and mineral imbalances, and can lead to inflammation and oxidative stress.

Regarding dizziness, while the available information focuses on vision problems, fluid shifts and blood pressure changes related to kidney failure can affect how you feel overall. If you're experiencing sudden blurry vision along with dizziness, this could be a warning sign that needs immediate attention.

It's important to work with your healthcare team to monitor your eye health regularly and manage conditions like high blood pressure that can affect both your kidneys and eyes.
