For recurrent UTI"s, I just read that vaginal estrogen will help. I am going to bring this up at my next doctor's appointment as I do have a UTI about two to three times a year requiring antibiotic to rid me of it. Cranberry helps but does not stop them. I am prescribed a lower does antibiotic and take for only three days but if this estrogen will shoo them away, I am all for it.
Melissa, You bring up a good point about the vaginal estrogen. I have not had a full blown stoke but have had 3 mini strokes in past years. I will be sure to bring this up to my doctor when I ask about the estrogen. Thank you for good information !
To everyone who have topics they want to bring up with your dr write them down and put it in your purse or pocket so you don't forget it and remember it when you get home afterwards.
I've had a couple of strokes so the gyn would not give me the vaginal estrogen. She said she didn't want to take the chance. But I'm concerned that frequent antibiotics affect the kidneys. A lady told me she drinks a gallon of water daily. But she didn't have kidney issues and concern for too much fluid. I try to drink at least half my body weight each day. I saw a YT doctor recommend this. It seems to help as I don't have then as often. And hopefully not to be too forward, but not long after I became relationally active, a doctor told me to make sure I void my bladder with 10 minutes of completion of any vaginally related activity. Doing so will clear the urethra? of any build up of foreign bacterial overgrowth that causes infection. That was 30 years ago. I applied that and have only had an occasional issue. I'm not a medical professional. This was just my experience. I feel I've avoided a lot of unwanted rounds of antibiotics
Thanks Darcy, Like you don't like the camera thing ! You are lucky that your doctor was already on top of this UTI information. I just saw it on a facebook pop up as I was scrolling around....has never been mentioned to me. Hope the camera is not too invasive to bear. You are a true warrior and your questions and answers help everyone here.❤️
Yes I have uti's often and have to take antibiotics. My primary just ordered me the vaginal estrogen. I thought she was crazy so I didn't use it yet. Have to go today for an urine sample if I still have a uti then the urologist needs to go in there with a camera to make sure nothing is wrong. Not looking forward to that.
