Hello Curt Morris, it is a good place here to find answers, feel the support from members here that also deal with muscle weakness, fatigue & shortness of breath. It has to be very devastating for you after being so physically active for 30 years & now feel muscle weakness. . But don't give up & finding a good but gentle exercise routine can help you to feel stronger, I sure do hope so. Just stretching & trying to stay flexible is my daily goals.
Do you have a good doctor? Asking your doctor for his help to feel stronger before trying any exercise routine. Right???
Hope your Friday morning will be great!!
CKD sure bites! Especially when you’re still young and used to being active.
You sound like the type who doesn’t let things get in the way of finishing a masterful masonry project. Now, you will put that determination to work for yourself instead of a building owner.
Laying a 60-foot plumb wall takes skill, and CKD is requiring new skills from you. A lesser man wouldn’t get it done, but you will.
That sounds really tough, and it's completely understandable to feel frustrated when something as simple as walking to the mailbox becomes a challenge. Going from 30 years of physically demanding work to struggling with basic movement is a big adjustment.

Curtis, you and I are the same age. I’m so sorry you are struggling with what should be easy tasks, especially doing such physically demanding work for three decades. My grandfather and both my uncles were brick/stone masons all their lives, and I’ve seen the toll it takes on the body. For my grandfather it was lung cancer.
Is there any way you can speak to your mail carrier to deliver your mail to your door, like they did when we were kids? Perhaps if you explain your disability and being unable to physically walk to and from the mailbox, they might do it. The mail carrier did that for my ex-father-in-law who had end stage emphysema.
Sending you love, prayers, and wishes from Florida for you to gain strength and feel better. 😉
This may sound ridiculous for you but have you ever tried chair exercises?? It is really amazing for your body and easy! Many CD’s are available. Start slow to build your body and muscles back up. After you accomplish this, start walking short distances. I did that and now walking a track outside and if the weather is bad, try walking on a treadmill. It is work for me and I’m 72 years old, Stage 4, EGGR 21. Something I never imagined, as kidneys are the last thing we think about!! Good Luck and God Bless!
