I am stage 4. My approach is to stay as healthy as possible for this CKD journey. I came across a natural diuretic approach, and have to say it has had positive results. I read where Lasix is a "double whammy" because it stresses the kidney with demanding urinary voidance and it flushes out potassium (needed for electrolytes balance). So for two weeks...every morning, 20 minutes before breakfast....I prepare a tea that consists of one large fresh squeezed lemon, less than 1/8 pink Himalayan salt, and one dropper of Dandelion Root Extract....stir...microwave for 30 seconds and sip. During the day and two trips at night has a more natural "voidance" and any bloating is all but gone. The plumbing also stays unblocked!

Drinking the Dandelion Root Extract tea recipe does not stop night-time trips to the bathroom (typically two). I drink this to counter stomach bloating, and now have positive results. Now in the fourth year of Stage 4, I do not want to take Lasix because I don't want additional stress on my functioning kidneys (with faulty filtration), and I don't want extra flushing of potassium needed for balanced electrolytes. An additional benefit of this recipe is that constipation is eliminated because of the lemon juice flush (recommend keeping a pop-up stool beside the bathroom "throne" to keep the knees above the hips for alignment). At age 74, I enjoyed yesterday volunteering with my Garden Club at the Botanical Garden.....woo-hoo!

I am a tea drinker and switched to Hibiscus Tea, pretty tart but I’m doing it every morning. I will try your recipe! Thank you… CKD Warriors ♥️♥️♥️

It sounds like you're doing a great job staying active and mindful of your diet — that's genuinely impressive! The bloating and frequent nighttime urination you're experiencing are worth paying attention to, as they can be related to kidney disease.

Here's what may be going on:

- Bloating/fluid retention — When kidneys aren't filtering properly, excess fluid can build up in the body, causing swelling or a bloated feeling, especially in the belly, feet, and ankles
- Frequent nighttime urination — Kidney disease can affect how your body manages fluid, leading to more trips to the bathroom at night
- Water intake — Staying hydrated is important, but the right amount of water depends on your specific kidney function level, so it's worth checking with your care team It's a good idea to mention these symptoms to your nephrologist or healthcare provider at your next visit. They may want to check your urine protein levels and kidney function to see if any adjustments to your care plan are needed.

You're already doing so much right — keeping that momentum going while staying in close contact with your care team is the best approach!
