There is no other treatment. Diet and hydration are key. But of course I'm not doctor. Look at the resources here and check out Davita.com for more info wonderful recipes. Hope you get that referral soon! God bless!

@Arlene Pierce, thank you for letting me know. This stuff is scary as it is, let alone when your doc says you don't have ckd but when you research the lab results it says you do. I've put in a request for a referral to a nephrologist so hopefully I can see one soon. It took me 6 months to see the Pulmonologist when I was diagnosed with COPD Emphysema chronic bronchitis. Other than diet what type of treatment is there for CKD?

Hi Jan, I pray you are seeing a nephrologist! I wish I had been referred to one when I was at stage 3a or 3b. I now see one, at age 70, but I'm stage 4 with egfr of 20. Please be diligent NOW about your diet, do not wait! Best wishes to you!😊❤️

Should you be concerned about fluctuating eGFR levels ranging from 44 to 68 over the past year?

Yes, these numbers warrant attention and ongoing monitoring with your doctor. Your eGFR readings show fluctuation between stage 3a and 3b kidney disease, indicating moderate kidney damage.

Here's what your numbers mean:

- eGFR 45-59 (your January, April, and June readings) = Stage 3a kidney disease
- eGFR 30-44 (your April reading of 44) = Stage 3b kidney disease
- eGFR 60-89 (your February and December readings) = Stage 2 kidney disease

The variation in your results could be due to several factors like hydration levels, medications, or temporary illness. However, the lower readings (44-45) suggest your kidneys have moderate damage and aren't filtering waste as efficiently as they should.

At stage 3, proper management can help prevent progression to more severe stages. It's important to work closely with your doctor to:

- Identify what's causing the kidney damage
- Monitor your kidney function regularly
- Make lifestyle changes like following a kidney-friendly diet
- Manage any underlying conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes

The good news is that with appropriate care, you may be able to slow or stop further kidney damage.
