I eat a variety of things and find it best if I eat in moderation. I stay away from salts as best as possible and watch how much protein I consume. On the diabetic I side I stay away from any foods or beverages that contain high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Any time I eat or drink HFCS my blood sugar goes out the roof. I don't have the same reaction with regular sucrose or table sugar. I can tolerate regular sugar much better but I still limit sugars and simple carbohydrates. I do okay with complex carbohydrates but I still watch the overall total amount of complex carbohydrates I eat in a day. I eat multiple small servings of foods throughout the day. When I eat, I do my best to have 75% of my plate filled with a variety of vegetables and fruits.
