With CKD Stage 3 and an eGFR of 33, making smart food choices can really help protect kidney function. The good news is that without high potassium or proteinuria, the dietary restrictions are a bit more manageable!

Here are the key things to limit or avoid:

- High-sodium foods — processed foods, canned soups, deli meats, fast food, and salty snacks
- Salt substitutes — these often contain potassium chloride, which can raise potassium levels unexpectedly
- Excess protein — large portions of meat, fish, eggs, or dairy may stress the kidneys
- High-phosphorus foods — dark colas, processed cheeses, packaged foods with phosphate additives
- Unhealthy fats — fried foods and heavily processed oils Even though potassium isn't currently a concern, it's worth keeping an eye on very high-potassium foods like bananas, avocados, and spinach, as kidney function can change over time.

Working with a renal dietitian is strongly recommended — they can build a personalized meal plan that fits specific needs at this stage. A nephrologist can provide a referral if needed.
